Pat LaBarbera   Jazz in the Black Hole

Sunday Oct 18, 2009 @ 9:30 pm
The Pat LaBarbera Quartet
Saxophonist Pat LaBarbera’s playing is said to be in the style of John Coltrane, extended by an encyclopaedic knowledge of improvisational theory and personalized by a certain lyrical sensibility. He will be joined by three other ‘stellar’ musicians – Brian Dickinson on piano, Neil Swainson on bass, and Bob McLaren on drums.

Cover charge $30

Glass Blowing   Cosmos: Cédric Ginart

Sunday Oct 18, 2009
Dr. Douglas Wright Education Gallery, Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery
Cédric Ginart (scientific glass-blower) will be making what could be described as strange antique apparatus. Instruments used by Galileo, Copernicus, Leonardo de Vinci inspire designs such as 5’ spyglasses constructed of glass. Ginart’s response to these scientific instruments will be in the realm of fantastical, coming out of the real.

No tickets required.
